First Time Navigation

When you sign in to Gemini for the very first time you will either be taken to the All Projects Home page or to the Customer Portal Page, unless your Gemini instance has been customized to do otherwise.

The All Projects View

The Customer ‘Portal’ view

The All Projects view shows you the projects in your Gemini instance in the various groupings that you have chosen. The Customer Portal view shows you a list of items that belong to a customer and is designed to allow a customer to see at a glance what items they have created/logged and what items may have been created on their behalf. The fields that are available to be viewed of edited are controlled by the permissions that each user has been granted. For more information on permissions see the Groups and Permissions. 

An alternative means of navigating to your projects is to hover over the Project Folder icon in the top left corner of the All Projects page. This will instantiate a drop-down, clickable list of projects to which you have access.

To view the details of any project you can either a) click on the Project Group on the All Project page to open the group and select the project, OR, hover over the Project Folder icon, move your mouse over the resulting drop down list to the project you wish to view and click on it.

The project drop down list is the fastest way to navigate to an individual project  and this manner of navigating to projects is available on every page of the application. Simply hover over the folder icon in the top left corner to invoke the menu of projects.

Project Navigation

If you have previously signed in to Gemini and you have created an AppNav card to mark some information that you care about then your navigation will be controlled by the placement of your AppNav cards, which is discussed below.

If your navigation is not controlled by an AppNav card on login then when you select a project to view you will navigate to the Project’s default menu as dictated by the Project Template. Projects in Gemini are created from Project Templates and one of the powerful features of Gemini is the ability to define a Project Menu for each Project Template. When you select a project you will be taken to the first menu item in the Project Template. Menu Navigation

Each Project in Gemini is based on a Project Template and the Project Template determines which functionality is available on the project menu and what that menu label will be. It is possible, for example, that the menu for Project A will reference the Grid as “Item List” while Project B references the same page as “User Stories” and Project C references the same page as “Service Desk Enquiries”. Regardless of the name in the menu or the taxonomy of fields that are presented each project gets the same rich, outstanding functionality.

To navigate to the Project Menu simply hover over the inverted triangle next to the project code and the Project Menu will appear as shown below. Hover over the Menu item you wish to navigate to and click.

AppNav Navigation

Gemini introduces the unique AppNav navigation, a system of navigating through an application that allows users to completely personalize their way through the business processes they interact with. For more on AppNav, see the AppNav Cards document.

To create an AppNav card, users ‘pin’ the page they are viewing. This is done either by clicking on the Pin icon , which is found on the right hand side of the Blue Bar region of the screen, or by clicking on the Blue Bar region, holding the mouse down, and dragging the card out of the bar. This action can be seen by clicking on Help in your Gemini application and selecting “Pinning important things” in the Navigating section.

Click on Pin (marked by red box) to create an AppNav Card for the page you are viewing. If the page is already pinned then this icon will be greyed.

AppNav Cards store the menu location and any filters you apply to a page. To return to the page marked by the AppNav card simply click on it. If you are on the Grid page you will also see sequenced items provided they fall within the AppNav card’s project filter (because sequenced items for a project are always shown).

AppNav cards can be ordered in the AppNav zone and you will always log into the leftmost personal (not system) AppNav card’s view.
