Signing in to Gemini

admin
usage

If your system administrator has configured Gemini for single-sign-on (Gemini supports Windows, Forms and AD), or you Gemini instance is using Active Directory to authenticate you then this document serves only to explain the various options for user logins in Gemini. If not, when you login you may be faced with a page that looks something like this:

login

Gemini can be configured to use the OpenAuth standard to allow you to log in using your identity from a number of social platforms that you might already be a member of. If you are already logged in to one of these then you will be signed straight in to Gemini when you click on the image that represents the social application you are signed into, provided that the account under that identity is valid and recognised. If your account does not exist and the Gemini Administrator has enabled Self Registration then you will be taken to a Registration page and asked to enter specific details about yourself (email address, gravatar etc).

Your systems administrator can enable or disable the social platforms that Gemini will accept user credentials from. If you do not see the one that you might wish to use it may well be that it has been disabled and it is not the case that Gemini does not support it.

Gemini also supports the OpenID standard, and you can get an OpenID to be used on many sites worldwide from OpenID.Net.

Finally, Gemini supports simple Username and Password authentication. If your username and Password have been set up by a 3rd party and you have not self-registered then you may be required to change your password immediately after you have logged on, assuming that the Immediate Password Expiry option has been set for your Gemini system.

If you do not see multiple methods of authentication when you login then the other methods/sources of authentication have been disabled.

If you have forgotten your password, click on the help tab and you will be prompted for your email address. You will shortly thereafter receive an email that will enable you to reset your password.
