Spaces in Email subject

web-app

Gemini is sending mail alerts with a lot of spaces in the subject.

Looks like this:

[ACLNT-57933] Updated - GroupwareForms: Could not start .NET v1.1 after  installing .NET 2.0

Here you'll find a screenshot of the undefined character:

Which version of Gemini?

Are you using the scheduler?

We have Gemini 2.2.6 (this occured after upgrading from 2.1.1 to 2.2.6).

In Notifications > Email Alert Engine: MailPlugin is selected.

I have no idea what the difference between MailPlugin and Scheduler Service.

But we recognized, that we do get a lot of more mails since the upgrade from 2.1.1. to 2.2.6 :(

Is it possible for you to test the same with the scheduler?

We installed the scheduler and activated the scheduler and made a restart of the system.

Unfortunately, the spaces are still there, see here:

Thanks to ImageShack for Free Image Hosting

In addition I recognzed, that after switching from MailPlugin to Scheduler, the footer in the mail shows Gemini V2.2.5, with MailPlugin it showed 2.2.6

See above for similar/same problem (?).

Can you confirm your Gemini.CounterSoft.Commons.dll version (both in Scheduler install directory AND Gemini webapp BIN directory)?

As for "2.2.5" -- fixed for 3.0!  Online beta testing starts soon!

The mail body do not seem to have blanks (at least I could not find), only the subject.

There is no "Gemini.CounterSoft.Commons.dll" in the Bin directory.

The schedulers install directory I need to ask our IT, its in another directory.

Ok, we rechecked:

Its CounterSoft.Gemini.Commons.dll not Gemini.CounterSoft.Commons.dll ;)

In "bin" we have: V2.2.6.21281

In the Scheduler folder we have: 2.2.5.17073

I rechecked my mailbox:

Old mails, which have been sent with the MailPlugin do show in the footer 2.2.6, this mails have blanks sometimes.

Mails which have been send with the scheduler do show in the footer 2.2.5, this mails do also have blanks in the subject sometimes.

Try to place the latest 2.2.6 commons DLL into Scheduler directory and then test (remember to keep a copy of the previous DLL before overwriting).

We made the change and copied the commons dll into the scheduler directory.

This was made on last friday at 4pm.

It looked good, but suddenly Gemini stopped sending Mails.    We do not receive any mails anymore from Gemini [*-)]

The last Mail was received at 5 pm, since than we are getting hundreds of times the following entries in the system logs:

Please help, we need a solution immediately.

This problem seems to be with an escape character appearing in either an issue, or comment.  Thus MS WSE is not able to process the payload received via web services.

We will try issue patch soon to work around this problem.

In the meantime, you may have to change to MailPlugin to start getting the emails!

Hallo Harvey,

thank you very much for the patch. We will try it immediately.

Since today we receive mails from ITS without any subject and without content. This mail was send with the MailPlugin.

So the patch comes right on time. We will now try your patches and switch back to scheduler and provide feedback.

Receiving Mails through the scheduler service works.

But the blanks in subjects are still alive, see screenshot:

When I forward or send the mail to a mail adresse outside our company domain, there are no spaces. When I send exactly the same mail to my company mail adresse I have the blanks.

I m able to reproduce it by sending this sample mail:

Subject: A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

Body:

A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z A b c d e f g h I j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z

I ve sent a mail to support@countersoft.com, as your mailadresse is outside our network, you'll have no blanks in it. Mail sent via http://xyz.net/utility/SendMail.aspx?m=2&id=46

Just to confirm, the problem is only on your company email. If that is the case, there is not a lot we can do. Can you speak to your system admin about this?
