Move the components between projects

web-app

Do we have any easy anyway to move the existing components between the existing projects?  I'm using Gemini version 3.0.4 and don't see any where in Administrator page lets me do this kind of thing.

If we need to use SQL script, and if this is the only way, does anyone has the structure or template/syntax to do this job?  Thanks so much in advance!

What are you looking to do with the issues for this component? Do you assign only once component to an issue?

we are trying to rearrange the components under the existing projects/issues.  Some projects have multiple components, some projects have only 1 component.

We want to re-categorize the components.

Yes, but what do you want to do with the issues that are assigned to this component(s)? Move them over? If so, do you assign more than 1 component to an issue?

Can you use the move issue functionality? or are there too many issues?

You can do it via SQL by changing the project id in the geminicomponents, geminiissues, geminicustomfielddata, geminiissueattachments, geminiissuecomments, geminiissuehistory, and gemini_watchissues

can you tell me where is that issue functionality is? On Administrator page? If so, which section?

The most number of components we are having right now under one Issue/Project is 15
I don't mind doing it by clicking the mouse (instead of using a script) but i need to know where I can do that clicking method.

Otherwise, I will have to try your SQL method:

"You can do it via SQL by changing the project id in the geminicomponents, geminiissues, geminicustomfielddata, geminiissueattachments, geminiissuecomments, geminiissuehistory, and gemini_watchissues"

This is when you view an issue. There is a move link at the right hand side (bottom).

I think i was not clear from the first place.
I want to move the components (including any issue underneath) around the existing projects (i.e compoment1a and issue1,issue2,issue3... to Project B)
How can I do that?  The move button/link to move the issue doesn't allow me to move selected issue between components under the same project.  When i clicked on the move button, on the Move Issue pop up window, there is no current project (project that contains the selected issue) listed on the Target Project drop down box --> can't find the components of that project in Component box (right below the Target Project box)

My current projects structure is like this:

Project A

Component 1a
issue1
issue2
issue3 ...
Component 1b
issue11
issue22
issue31 ...
Project B
Component (a)
issue15
issue234
issue334..
Component (b)

I think what you are asking for is Bulk Issue Moving where you can also re-assign Components to Issues on the Target Project.

We are working on Bulk Issue Moving for next release (3.1).
