Using Windows Authentication

Gemini supports both Forms and Windows authentication. The following steps must be followed in order to configure Windows Authentication.

Step 1 – Create Domain User Account in Gemini

Before enabling Windows Authentication, ensure you first create a new Gemini user that will allow YOU to login after the switch to Windows Authentication has been made.

Note that no password is required – just ensure the Gemini username is a valid, fully qualified domain user account.

Step 2 – Amend Web.Config

Change the mode to “Windows”:

Step 3 – Change IIS Gemini Application Settings

Windows Server 2008 / IIS 7

Select the Authentication setting for your Gemini web application.

Now enable Windows Authentication and disable all other authentication options.

Windows Server 2003 / IIS 6

Under Directory Security,  edit Authentication and access control and then ensure that only Integrated Windows authentication is selected.
