Did you have the old desktop installed?
Is it possible to post the list of files in the desktop's directory?

Thanks, can you please make sure that you have .NET 3.5 SP1 enabled?
Go to the control panel -> Program and Features and click on "Turn windows features on or off", turn "Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5.1" on.

Can you please post the contents of the file generated by the crash?
You can find it by running the desktop again, after the crash go to windows event viewer (application log) and open the entry for the desktop, you should see:
"These files may be available here:....."
Try and open the folder and the file with notepad and post the contents.

It seems like you have some CounterSoft dlls in the GAC.
Can you please double check that (C:\Windows\assembly)?
If you see any of the dlls listed earlier (CounterSoft.*) please remove them from the GAC.

If that still doesn't help please send an email to support at countersoft dot com and we will remote in to see if we can solve this.

I have the same issue, only with Windows 7 32-bit.  I installed Gemini Desktop and it would start, then installed the Outlook plugin and though the Outlook plugin works Gemini Desktop crashes on start.

I followed the suggestion here and saw countersoft.* files in assembly, but wasn't able to delete them.  I uninstalled the outlook plugin and the files in assembly disappeared and Gemini Desktop was now able to start.

It appears that the outlook plugin is breaking Gemini Desktop.

FYI, I can confirm this behavior, Outlook breaks Desktop Client.

Also, it breaks Visual Studio 2010 add in.
