Importing Data from other systems

web-app

We've been using BugTracker.NET for some time now, and have a right fair bit of history in it that I'd hate to lose. There used to be a utility to import data, but no longer? Has anybody suffered through this and would like to offer suggestions?

Thanks much for any useful tips,
Herb.

I hate to ask - but given that this is compiled (presumably no source available), what version of BT.NET does this pull from? Their schema has been, er, revised a bit lately.

Herb.

Oh, and lest I seem ungrateful - I'm not, really! - thank you for making this available. The url in the documentation is off a little bit.

Any luck getting this to work?  I am trying to import from Bug Tracker and I keep getting the following error:

The requrest failed with the error message:

<html><head><title>Object moved</title></head><body>
<h2>Object moved to <a href='/Default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fgeminws.asmx'>here</a>.</h2>
</body></html>

--.

Any ideas?

I gave up for now. It looks like this is project is pretty old; assumes an old version of BugTracker and an old version of Gemini. If I get serious about trying this out, I'll probably do a rewrite. I don't think it's that hard - can use web services for everything except project creation, so not terrible. Not sure how attachments are handled - it looks like a direct byte stream.

If you are interested in some sort of collaboration at very nearly any level, I'm probably interested. It's a pretty low priority for me currently.

Herb.

We are using version 0.66.2224.0 of BugTracker (SmartIssue)  will this update work with this version?

Not sure what SmartIssue is!

We will create a "generic" import utility, that will initially work with BugTracker.NET. But you will be able to easily change it to any SQL based system.

Attached is the new import utility.

We have create 2 types at the moment:

  1. Import from Gemini
  2. Import from BugTracker.NET v1.2

The source is provided and it is very simple to add import for any other bug tracking software.

The idea is that users can share the modified code.

Thanks,

CounterSoft.
