Problem with HTML comments containing TABLE

web-app

Hi

I'm using completely rewritten SvnGeminiCommenter , using svn command line client (instead of svnlook), --xml output and external xslt template to generate gemini comment. It works fine and comments looks good .....until i post it to Gemini

My HTML comment source looks like this: (pitty this forum has no <code> tag ):

<table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="0" style="border: #dcdcdc 1px solid; font-family: verdana, arial, helvetica; font-size: x-small; color: #000000;">

<tr style="padding-left: 5px; background: #d7eefd; border-color: #a4dafc;">

<td colspan="2" style="white-space: nowrap;">

Few problems:

1) svn commit comment text contains <BR> tags to break line (i do replace \r\n for <br> inside xslt). But when i post it to gemini, these <br> tags are removed from comment making the comment text one line text :-(( This behavior seems little inconsistent because <br> tags in the cell containing file names and links are not replaced.... (i am looking directly to database )

2) This comment rendered in issue detail page shows some characters before the actual table. These characters are from style attribute of the table. Rendered is everything from COLOR attribute to the end of line. Removing COLOR attribute from STYLE fix this woe.....

3) This comment rendered to email alert is another story..... <p> tags everywhere, completely destroing my formating... :((

Please help ! Any rules, advice to this issues ?

Thanx

Michal

Sorry but I can not replicate your issue at all.

How are you adding the comment? I have tried it with the CreateComment web service and it works fine!

I'm using CreateIssueComment method.

sorry, i'v just double checked my code and first problem seem like problem with xslt processing. When running from command line, \r\n are replaced with <br>, when transforming in my own code, they aren't......maybe something with encoding....i'll see. Pitty there is no support for CCS "white-space: pre-line".....<pre> looks sooo ugly....

But 2nd and 3rd issues are real ! :) How did you test 2nd issue ? Just try to add comment to existing issue , switch RAD to source view, past my html code and post it. There is "#000000;">" string before table....

O, and i use Gemini 2.0.5.

See http://gemini.countersoft.com/Default.aspx?p=3&i=1059 no issues!

As for the email, is that email alerts? or the mailbox processor?

1) It looks ok....but in my instalation don't....and i know the reason ! :)

For referencing our issues (both from SVN comments and in Gemini), we use this sintax "#xxx" or "issue #xxx" where xxx is a number.... So i have set IssueLinkQualifier value to "#". Set this configuration parameter to same value and then look at that comment....

2) alerts

thanx

Michal

  1. Nothing we can do about this. You will have to change your issue qualifier.
  2. Try changing to text emails or try changing template engine.

1) Easy to say, very hard to accomplish.What about the hundreds of issues and svn comments we already have in the system !? :-( Not very good advice...

2) Text mails ? You are right, switching to plain text will definitely solve my  issues with html formating ;-)

What do you mean by changing template engine pls ?

Thanks

Michal

  1. Up to you. Once again we can not change this now. You CAN change your comments!
  2. Yes, but at least you will see if the comment comes up as expected as you will see the HTML!

Have a look at the web.config for the TemplateEngine setting.

1) I understand, but please, try to understand my point of view.....i can change our issue qualifier, but it is VERY hard to do it for existing comments and issue descriptions. In the end, this "bug" is something i can live with. Is there any chance to change this in some future version ?

2) I'll try another temlate engine.....

I admit i was littel bit ironic in tomorrow's reply......but i'm still happy customer and i'm looking forward to more and better features of Gemini (better user\role management in the first place)

Thanks for your time

Michal

  1. This is NOT a bug! You asked Gemini to replace all #:xxx to links and that what is does!
