Issue Visibility Query

If I create an issue which is visible only to "Managers" How can i set Gemini up so that I can see the issue myself (after all, i raised the issue) but only managers can see it otherwise?

I have set the Can View Only View Own Issues to Everyone (Authenticated) since everyone should be able to view their own issues.

Everyone can also edit their issues/comments.

Am I missing or misunderstanding something here? It seems the visibility to the managers (set on the issue visibility) is taking precidence over the ability to view own issues?

This behaviour is by design.

Once the issue is restricted to a particular group, then that should be so.

Should the user that is posting the issue not always be able to see their issues? Creating an issue that is then lost in the void doesn't seem right? For example, I actually posted something twice, because I didn't think it had been created as I couldn't see it.

Would it make sense to change it to:

  • You can alway see your own issues
  • You can see issues, unless you have the "Can only view own issues" permission
  • You can see the issue if you are in the group assigned visibility (eg the managers group in this example)
Unless there is some other scenario I've not taken into account?

PS just for others reading this post, I guess the same could be achieved by only letting people view their own issues, and not setting an issue visibility. The managers could then view the whole issue list, but everyone else would just see their own issues.
