Issues with Gemini 4.2.1

install

After upgrading from 2.2.7 to 4.2.1 over the weekend some users are having some issues.

They (including myself) get brought back to the homepage after trying to perform an action on gemini e.g.Clicking on a link to go to an issue, opening the admin section

It seems to just happen in IE but just wondering if there could be an underlying issue?

The below appears in the System log and the times do seem to tie in with the issues occurring

Padding is invalid and cannot be removed. at System.Security.Cryptography.RijndaelManagedTransform.DecryptData(Byte[] inputBuffer, Int32 inputOffset, Int32 inputCount, Byte[]& outputBuffer, Int32 outputOffset, PaddingMode paddingMode, Boolean fLast) at System.Security.Cryptography.RijndaelManagedTransform.TransformFinalBlock(Byte[] inputBuffer, Int32 inputOffset, Int32 inputCount) at System.Security.Cryptography.CryptoStream.FlushFinalBlock() at System.Web.Configuration.MachineKeySection.EncryptOrDecryptData(Boolean fEncrypt, Byte[] buf, Byte[] modifier, Int32 start, Int32 length, IVType ivType, Boolean useValidationSymAlgo) at System.Web.Security.FormsAuthentication.Decrypt(String encryptedTicket) at CounterSoft.Gemini.Presenter.GeminiHttpModule.Application_AuthenticateRequest(Object source, EventArgs e)

Try clearing the browser's cache. Does it work for other browsers without the exception?

Hi Mark,

I have cleared everything from the browser (history, cookies etc), closed out of browser and went back in but the error appeared in the system log as soon as I logged in (it's using Windows Authentication so no actual log in being done)

I have tried firefox and chrome and no error appears in the system log

Can you switch to forms authentication and test it?

Hi Mark,

When I came in this morning I know longer had the issue. So clearing the IE cache seems to have worked - or a combo of that and PC reboot.

I have asked others who had the issue to do the same and will see if it works for them aswell

Re Forms authentication, I actually had it as Forms at the start but I started having these issues so switched to Windows Authentication. I have kept it as Windows Authentication as the Sourcesafe checkin api would only work with Windows Authentication

Thanks for your help

Hi Saar/mark

Unfortunately the issue is back (and worse)!

We have two Gemini 4 Instances (called Gemini and IssueTracker) If I have both open (in seprate tabs) only one will work e.g If I try and add a comment in Gemini it will kick me back to home but then I can continue again as normal. If I then switch tabs to IssueTracker regardless of what I click it kicks me back to the home page. But I can continue as normal again They are running on a windows 2003 server, sql2005 DB, iis 6

Any ideas?

If it helps: They are in seperate Application pools but both are running under the default website in IIS

Please change the forms name in the web.config file in one of the instances. Note that you need 2 licenses to run 2 instances.

Thanks Mark. I'll try that. Apologies, I wasn't aware of that. My plan is to merge them into one instance as soon I resolve these issues

I'll let you know how that goes

Thanks
