Timestamp History On Status Change

Is there a way to keep the history with date/time on an item when the item's status changes. We want to be able to report on the time from submission to acknowledged to prioritized, assigned, etc.......

Issue history will contain timestamp for any change including status. Checkout the history tab when viewing the item.

I have an additional question on this; We want to be able to extract this time stamp data across tickets and based on that create reports/dashboards. Is that possible? And how would we go about it?

At the moment you can do that via SQL only.
