Excess email, how to limit notifications on certain events?

I'm trying to reduce email notifications that gemini sends on every change. I use already scheduler service.

Email can be reduced by Global > Notifications settings. As far as I understood that watchers get all notifications disregarding notification settings.

I tried to look the solution from deleting resources from watchers. But if I, as a resource, comment a ticket/issue I become a watcher automatically. Can I prevent this somehow?

Another thing is there a way to configure notifications so that it gemini sends email only when ticket is set to some certain status, or when deadline is approaching in X days?

Thanks, Juhana

Which version of Gemini are you running? You can prevent resources and creators from being added to the watch list by going to the Administration -> Notifications page and set the "Email Item Creator" and "Email Item Resource" to no.

Unfortunately, there is no way to send email on certain status or deadline. However, commercial license holders can download the source code of the schedueler service and do that.

I'm running Gemini v4.0.1 (build 3038). It would be a nice feature if it was possible to specify accurately when email notifications are sent.

I think writing it ourself to task scheduler creates too much overhead with every update so I don't think it as a feasible alternative.

At the moment we removed all watchers and the issue resources get email on comments. It would be nice to receive notifications when deadlines approach and when they are set to some certain status. Defined separately for resources and watchers.

Yes, SLA is going to be part of Gemini 5.0 (due Dec 2011)

Sorry, I'm not familiar with acronym SLA besides Service Level Agreement. What does it mean?

Does this mean that Gemini 5.0 will provide more configurable email notifications as described above?

Yes, it will allow you to send alert on status, deadline or inactivity on the item.

Hi Mark, When do you expect version 5.x? I've requested a few times to receive emails from Gemini when new releases are ready, I've yet to get one such email. I would also like to suggest that you put somewhere on your homepage (countersoft.com..) what the current version of Gemini is and when the next release is scheduled. I find myself constantly coming back to find that information. :)

Thanks

Ok, I signed up again. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Do you have a release schedule for version 5.0? I see on the Gemini platform that it now says a Feb 2012 release? Is this the new (as opposed to December 2011, as mentioned above in this Thread) expected time?

Are all the items listed in the Gemini Platform going to be released then, or will it be a subset? If subset, where can I find the expected items to be released?

Is the current version specified anywhere on the Countersoft website?

Most will be in version 5 although the release date will be pushed back to probably April. We will not disclose the full list but trust me when I say it will be awesome!
