Browser Support for IE6 - Item menus disappear on mouseover

items
web-app

A few of our users are on IE6 -- not sure the EXACT version, but I can find out if necessary.

For some reason, after login, if they mouseover the 'New Item' link it disappears entirely. Mousing over 'Dashboard' and 'Projects' drops those menus down. Its only the Item links -- not even the 'All Items' or any of the custom filters under that drop down show up. Just disappears.

Only change we made was recently upgrading to 4.0 from 3.7, so I'm assuming this is related -- but want to know if this is a bug or if 4.0 officially dropped support for IE6. Any explanation is appreciated.

Let me know.

Thanks.

Is that the one on the top left or top right? Can the click on the new item link?

Both disappear. But, that screenshot is one from the top left.

Another interesting use case: From Main.aspx or Project.aspx -- If I mouse over the 'Item' link -- the 'Dashboard' link disappears along it.

Now, here's more information -- If I wait a minute or 2....and mouse over some links.. The links reappear and I can click on them as usual. Is it possible some client side libraries are taking some time to load?

It might be caching issue, did you try clearing the cache?

ANSWER

We have dropped support for IE 6. However, the functionality for the menu's didn't change since 3.7.

May I ask why you are still using IE6?

Hmm... the only thing that changed was Gemini being upgraded -- so something had to have changed between the 2 versions. :)

To answer your question though -- some of our QA testers have IE6 installed as their default IE browser so they can test our application against it. Because of that, they actually use it for everything, browser and testing.

But, if you don't support it any longer -- thats fine. I'd rather have them upgrade IE and find an alternate way to test with legacy browsers like IE6 anyhow.

Thanks for your quick replies!
