Latest Gemini Scheduler release and Gemini 2.2.6

Please advice us with next.
In our company we are using Gemini 2.2.6 version. And constantly have situation when email alerts notifications stop working occasionally. Sometimes Gemini Scheduler service is stopped in that case, sometimes is not. Anyway, restarting service often helps to recover it.
Our Gemini Scheduler version is 1.7 (assembly version of CounterSoft.Gemini.Scheduler.exe file is 1.5.2817.16314).

My assumption is that perhaps latest version of Gemini Scheduler doesn't have such issue. So that my question - is it possible to use its latest version with our current Gemini 2.2.6 solution? If yes, then what steps should be done except just reinstalling Scheduler on our server (actually replace old dll's with latest ones)?

The latest version might work with 2.2.6 but we are not sure.

You can try and install it to test. Backup the 2.2.6 scheduler before!

Thanks for answer.
I would try, but solution runs in production, and it is very much important to not break exist scheduler.
Could you please assure me that it is enough to only backup C:\Program Files\CounterSoft\Gemini Scheduler Service folder, so that if something goes wrong I could simply restore that folder and everything will work as before, so that there is no additional registry entries or something.

Backing up that folder will do. There are no registry keys used.

If you are worried then install the new one on another box (turn off the old service). That will be quite easy test actually.
