Error loading VS2010 extension

visual-studio
add-ons

Hello,

I've installed the VS2010 extension and while it appears to have installed correctly (I uninstalled and re-installed to make sure) Visual Studio can't seem to load it, and when I try to view the Gemini window I get the following error: The 'CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.VisualStudio2010.GeminiPackage,CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.VisualStudio2010, Version=3.7.2.2724, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0e17ff0349390ca9' package did not  load correctly. The problem may have been caused by a configuration change or by the installation of another extension. You can get more information by running the application together with the /log parameter on the command line, and then examining the file 'C:\Users\Xander\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ActivityLog.xml'.
When I follow the instructions, I get the this set of related entries in the ActivityLog.xml file:

312
Begin package load [CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.VisualStudio2010.GeminiPackage, CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.VisualStudio2010, Version=3.7.2.2724, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0e17ff0349390ca9] {EBBD2397-87B6-4EF9-AD0B-BD8ACAC1F893}

The only other extension I have installed is the Visual Studio 2010 SharePoint Power Tools extension, and that was installed first, so I don't believe it's causing a conflict.

If's it's any help, this is Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate and the build number is: 10.0.30319.1  (The RTM build.)Any ideas?Thank you and kind regards,-Xander

Please try the command 'devenv /ResetSkipPkgs' in a Visual Studio Command Prompt with no Visual Studio instances running.  You may wish to run this command as an Administrator.

Do you have the outlook add-on installed or any of CounterSoft's DLLs in the GAC?

Yes, I have the following in my GAC:

Also, I installed the outlook plugin. I think I installed it after trying the VS2010 plugin first. At this point however I cannot remember for sure.

Also, I have the VS.PHP extention and VisualSVN extention in visual studio. Do you know if those could cause an issue with the CounterSoft plugin?

Can you please try uninstalling the outlook add-on, unistall all Gemini's dlls from the GAC
(CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.Commons, Version=3.7.0.2711, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0e17ff0349390ca9, processorArchitecture=MSIL
CounterSoft.Gemini.Client.DisconnectedServices, Version=3.7.0.2711, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0e17ff0349390ca9, processorArchitecture=MSIL

CounterSoft.Gemini.WebServices, Version=3.7.0.2711, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=0e17ff0349390ca9, processorArchitecture=MSIL )

re-install the VS 2010 add-on, that should work.

I don't have any other CounterSoft client software installed.
I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with all the latest upgrades
Visual Studio 2010 Premium

I tried the suggest to run devenv with the /ResetSkipPkgs but it did not help.
There are no CountterSoft assemblies registered in the GAC.

If there is any other information you need, please let me know.

Thanks for your help

Brendan
