Regarding visibility of comments and history

web-app

I am testing out Gemini for our company as a possible solution.  For the most part I have been able to configure a user so that they can only see certain fields when they create, edit or view their own issues.  I have configured this via a combination of "field visibity Schemes" and "security schemes".

What does not appear for this person is comments and history and I cannot figure out what needs to be toggled accordingly to make that happen.  From a security / visibility point can anyone tell me what "must" be enabled for the user in order to see these items?

In the Scheme role there only seems to be options to toggle "create comment", "edit comment" and "edit own comment".  I have tried various combinations with no luck.

In the "field visibility scheme" I don't see what might control comments and history (at least it is not obvious to me).

However, if I select "printer friendly" for this user I see the comments...

cheers

Hi Geoff.

Can you please elaborate exactly what are you not able to accomplish with respect to issue comments e.g. View comments, View comments tab, create comments, edit comments.

History: Can you confirm that the user is part of a group who has visibility to Issue Comments?

I wish I could upload some pictures here as that would help show you how I currently have things configured.

What I have done is:

created a test user and made them a member of "External Users" and "Everyone"

Created 3 visibility schemes "Create Issue", "Edit Issue", and "View Issue" and assigned the "View Issue" to the Field Visibilty Scheme of the project.  I also assigned each to Issue Type Field Visibilty Scheme of the same name. Each of these schemes are basically the same hiding priority from the external user so they cannot control or see this.  (however I note that there is no comment control in a Field Visibilty Scheme so I'm not sure this is my problem).

Created a project call "General Support Requests" and set the security scheme to "External Security Scheme" and the Field Visibility to "View Issue"

Assigned the "create comment", "edit comment" and "delete own comment" amoung other non-comment related roles to this "External Security Scheme".

The user can create a comment, and can see that there are comments (i.e. when viewing a single issue they see "comments (2)" attachments (0), etc).

However just below this area were the comments should be listed there is nothing.  This same user can however select print friendly from the bottom left of the screen and the new window that opens has the complete issue including the comments listed.

If I log into the system as an admin and select the same issue I see the comments on the screen without the need to select the print friendly option.

I can't see how to update files to this forum so I can't provide pictures, but I am hoping that provides more detail for you to work from?

Let me know what else you need to help me out in my investigation of this product...

When I add this person to the "Everyone Authenticated" then it works, however I beleive it works because this group is using the "Default Security Scheme" and not the "External Security Scheme" which is assigned to the "External Users" group.

I will compare the difference in settings between these two Schemes (there are differences) to see what needs to be assigned to the "External Users" group so comments become visible.

Unless you have an idea what this setting might be?

If I'm still stuck I'll upload pics to the support site you recommended.

Well, I have compared the two security groups and I cannot see what would be different about them so as to affect the listing of comments when viewing an issue.

What screen shots would you like to see?
