Change Profile Data

web-app

Hi all,

I'm trying out the free 5 user licence for Gemini, and while I understand that I can't delete users, I would actually like to use 5 custom users, but Gemini came prepackaged with the John Doe and Anonymous user already in place.

The only way I can fill out my user list is to change one of those pre-existing users to my own data. But once I change the login name and password, I can't log in with them.

Is there something I'm missing? Am I not allowed to change those data elements to existing users?

Thanks.

You should be able to change the username and password. You can do this by going to the Administration -> Users page and click on search. Edit the user and give it a new username and password.

Does it not work for you?

Also, if you delete all the pre existing projects then you will be able to delete the users.

I've tried it repetatively with failure. I'll try again soon and post any specific info that the software gives me.

Thanks for your reply.

Still no luck.  When I try to change the user name / password, and then log in as that user, I get a message regarding an invalid user name and / or password.  When I click the link that I forgot my password so it will email it to me, they try to supply the user name to trigger the email, it says it is an invalid user name.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Can you please check if the user was renamed in the gemini_users table?

MarkWing,

Thanks for your help.  I looked in the users table and my new user names are indeed correctly saved in there.  Yet when I try to login or use the "forgot my password" option, it tells me that they are invalid users.

The error might be misleading as it might be an SMTP error. Did you check the Gemini error log?

Getting closer, but still no luck...

There was indeed an SMTP error.  The service was not running on our new server.  This has been corrected, but I continue with the error.

Now, I may have hamstrung myself in the effort.  I changed the actual login name for those canned users.  Was that foolish?  Is that what is causing me trouble?  I'm wondering if there is some configuration settings that map those user IDs to the user names for the canned users and when I changed the user login names, maybe I broke a link in one of the chains.

The login name is ok to change, so it should work. Are these users marked as active?
