VSS integration on 64 bit machine

visual-studio
add-ons

I have registered CounterSoftGeminiSourceControlv360\CounterSoft.Gemini.SourceControl.VSS\counterSoft.Gemini.SourceControl.VSS.dll and Windows ells me it was successful. HOWEVER, when I go to register Geminivss.reg (which I can not double click but rather have to import through regedit on vista 64 bit) I find that there is no HKEYLOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE|Countersoft entry ... and the registration fails.... any ideas?

What is the error you are getting?

Cannot import
C:\Users......\CounterSoftGeminiSourceControlv360\CounterSoft.Gemini.SourceControl.VSS\GeminiVSS.reg:
The key selected is invalid.

So, like I said, I took a look at what key it was trying to update, and that was HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\countersoft ... which doesn't exist even though when I registered the dll it reported success.

I am running 64 bit Vista Ultimate sp1

thanks

Please try and amend the reg file to go to the windows on windows key:

HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\wow6432node......

I tried that, and I get the same error.  So I now have: [HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Gemini]
However, there is no Gemini folder in [HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\

Can you try and create the key manually?

We have just tested this again and it works out of the box.
Can you please make sure that you have the permissions to create entries in the registry?

Hello, I have checked this with my IT and I have all permissions necessary. He logged in and tried it as well with no success..  I tried it on a colleagues machine as well and no-go.  When you say that you tested it, did you guys test it on 64 bit Vista SP1?
