Use of Gemini to manage product development

web-app

We are looking to use Gemini to manage both new software versions and manage requests for existing versions.

Product project structure sample Technology.1 release A work package 1 work package 2 release B work package 3 Technology.2 etc.

We would need a page where anybody could log a request/feature/fault but a separate process looks at the issue and decides which version it is allocated to.

Has anyone had any experience in doing this - do we need separate projects to manage the two requirements?

Thanks

Simon

We do the same on our own Gemini: http://gemini.countersoft.com
For each product create a project, components and versions.
Now when a user logs a bug, request, feature etc... you get an issue created alert.
You either look at the issue(s) as they come in a decide the version for them or (what we do) is look at new  / updated issues each week and assign versions.
So all in one project, issue types determines the nature of the issue (bug, feature etc...).

Does this work for you?

Thanks for the reply - your forum looks fine - but when I create a new request in ours it seems to allow full entry of detail - including project to assign to. How has this been achieved - field access restriction?
In our company people may have the right in other projects to control these details but they wouldn't be able to for product.

The project list will have all the projects you are allowed to create issues in. Other fields can be hidden using field visibility schemes.
These apply at the issue type. for each type you can associate visibility scheme and show different "screens". See Administration -> Field Visibility Schemes.
