Component Name Sorting
I'm again testing Gemini for our company engineering department as our
main project management system. This project has been off and on for a
few years due to other engineering projects on my plate, but now I have
the time to finish testing this software for our company. We are using
an old version <Gemini 3.1.1 (Build 2212)> and once the tests are
complete, my plans are to purchase the newest version, but I do have a
question on the new version for the "Component Names". I want to create
a "Project Template" that all projects use with the list of Component
Names in the sort order preset. This is the order I want the project to
flow, but when creating Component Names they sort alphabetically in
this version, and I need to know if the new versions will allow me to
sort these Component Names in an order I need each time for all
projects if my project template is used? Example of my "Component Names" below:
Order Received
Order Entered
Contract Review
Acknowledgement Letter Sent
Yellow Book Assembled
To Engineering
Approval Drawings Out
Approval Drawing Follow-up/Call Contact
Approval Drawings Returned
and the list goes to 60 total.
Thank you for your replies

We now have component heirarchy which might help with this. |

I do see what your talking about now, and I wasn't thinking of it that way, but now I'm going to rethink my component list. So I'm correct to say there is a component hierarchy in the new version, and is there somewhere I can see this is action(anyone)? |

I have another question, as I got the component sort now and as I said above, we are rethinking the component names. My question; Is it possible to create a template with not only preset components, but also preset issues for our team to answer and complete. As from my above 1st post, we would use the component names like: |

Project Templates? Create a new project using a template, where, the template contains Components, Verisons, Issues already defined. |

Yes. Then all my team has to do is complete the issue status, add any documents, comments, questions, etc. All of our projects are handled the very same way. |

You can do this via project backup and restore. Backup the "template" project and restore it each time. |

Ok, Can you offer where we can get information on the process of backup & restore of a "single" project template? As I don't see any controls to backup & restore in this version - Gemini 3.1.1 (Build 2212) |

We are currently doing a update from 3.1.1 (Build 2212) to 3.5.4 Release (Build 2435) . There is no important data in this db, but we just want to see how the upgrade goes. Also, maybe the backup & restore controls will be in the new version, as we've only see the 3.1.1 version. |

The update went great, and now we see all the added controls that wasn't in the 3.1.1 version. We also see how to handle the above questions much better now, and just wanted to thank you for your time replying. |
