Thanks. Pretty much as I described above. We have ~4 different projects. We're an Agile team, and we're using the "Version" concept to track items assigned to a given iteration.
There are times when we only want to look at a single Project, but there are other times when we want to look across all projects in the Planner, to create a single logical "card wall" with "status" for everything in an iteration.
We can do this today by setting the filters on the planner, but it's a hassle to set up--I have to filter to each project, and then grab the same version number in each project. And because I can't share and save filters (I can save, but just for myself), everyone on the team that wants to look at the cross-project story wall needs to do this.
My cross project story wall is the immediate pain, but there are some other useful planner-like views I'd like to create and share as well.
Technically, all of the following would be things that would make my life easier in various ways (and sorry if this is something of a thread hijack, but since you asked...)
- Allow me to define a version (e.g. "Iteration 5") ONCE and share it across projects (something like an "Issue Version Scheme" that could be inherited by multiple projects). This would make selecting a logical version less duplicative.
- A sort-of-related piece of awesomeness--if I could have an option in the pulldowns for "Current Version" (Similar to "Due next 7 days" or "Submitted by me") that would pull all issues for all selected projects for iterations in progress based on current date vs. Version start and end dates. This would mean I wouldn't need to go update things every iteration (from Iteration 4 to Iteration 5). "Current Version Issues" seems like a generally very useful concept.
- It would make things easier if the all the filters were in the URL for the planner (or I had an option to enable them in the planner)--even absent my "nirvana" of sharable views, this would at least let me define a precise view of the stories once, bookmark it, and share the link knowing everyone would see exactly what I'm seeing. (We're using a tool from del.icio.us to share bookmarks across the team, so just having the filters creatable/settable in the URL would go a very long way)
- My ideal solution would allow me to save and share a view of the planner. Then I could set this
up once for the team, and everyone else could use it right in Gemini with no fuss.
