Migration Problems

web-app
Hello..

We have been using GEMINI 1.9.1 and are very satisfied.

I am in the process of retiring the server that runs our current installation.  I have a copy of the install package for ver. 1.9

I installed 1.9 and have been trying to upgrade to 1.9a,  following the Gemini.pdf guide. I run the script required in SQL but nothing happens.

Is there a place where I can download version 1.9.1 so I can load that on my new server and import my existing database?

Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

You can download it from http://www.countersoft.com/downloads/Geminiv19_1.zip

To move the database, backup and restore it to the new one.

Hello..

I have been having a lot of problems migrating my old data to our new server. I have successfully installed the Gemini App.  We are at version 1.9.1.

I have tried these things

  • I backup the data base on the old server and restore it to the new server and the application then fails.
  • I import the data from the old server to the new, the import succeeds but there is an error: "Update or insert of view or function 'Gemini.dbo.issueview failed because it contains a derived or constant field'  "
  • Most of the errors seem to be related to Gemini.Issues.BindGrid()

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Back up and restore should do the trick. What errors do you get?

Ok Problems solved.  The restore of the old database to the new server was the problem. It has been restored properly and now the world is right.

Just wanting to clarify something...

If I'm wanting to upgrade my version of Gemini (1.9) to the latest version, instead of doing incremental upgrades I could just backup the current database, then uninstall Gemini and reinstall the latest version and finally import/restore the database - would that work?

Many thanks.

No, you have to upgrade the database (incremental upgrade only applies to the database).
