Login error
Hello,
I have just upgraded our Gemini from 2.0.x to 2.2.5 which all went well. I can access full functionality thorough the website.
I am now trying to evaluate the desktop tool but cannot get logged in. I am trying to login using windows authentication. My user can login via the web but from the desktop client I get:
An invalid security token was provided ---> WSE594.
AcceptSecurityContext call failed with the following error messae: Login failure: unknown user name or bad password.

Which version of the desktop app are you using? Can you try logging in not using windows authentication? |

I am using the latest download from the website so v2.2 I hope. Using a non windows authenticated user just tells me 'Login error encountered. Please check username and password' - no additional messages. |

Do you have Microsoft WSE 3.0 installed on the web server? |

Yes. I checked that it is on the server and the client. I can access the service pages through the browser. |

Can you run the desktop app with the -dc switch to get the exact error? |

That was with the DC switch - I'm not seeing any other error. |

Are you logging on as a valid user (did you create a non windows user and password in Gemini)? |

I believe so but the gemini config is set to authenticate using Windows so I cannot login as the normal user anyway. I cannot easily change the authentication as others are using the system too. Why wouldn't my windows user, that works perfectly with the website, not work? Is there any log etc on the server side i could look in that might provide an insight? I've checked the event logs and there is no information I can find. TIA Nic |

There is currently an issue with web services and windows authentication that we are working on. Can you please try connecting to http://gemini.countersoft.com so we can see if the issue is server or client side? |

Ok, so http://gemini.countersoft.com works perfectly so something is obviously wrong with my server setup. My next (obvious) question is what or am I stuck because of the windows authentication issue you mention? Thanks again Nic |

If this is the case, try logging into Gemini Web (I presume using windows authentication) and set your password via the profile page. Then try and log in via the desktop app using your user name (qualified by domain if using windows authentication in web) and the password you have entered above. |

Wow - thanks for the speedy reply. I did as you instructed and now get the following error running the application with the dc switch: The security token could not be authenticated or authorized ---> WSE563. The computed password digest doesn't match that of the incoming username token. Nic |

This error indicates that the password was not matched to the user. Can you confirm? |
