Cannot see my new issue status
I am trying to add a new issue status called "Deprecated". I'm doing this using the page on /admin/IssueStatus.aspx.
I have no problem creating a new status and my new status shows up in the issue filter. So it does exist.
But the workflow stuff seems to beat me, because my new status never shows up in any of my issues. Could someone please explain to me what the pre- and post-states are used for? It doesn't seem to make any difference whatever I choose. I can even edit some of the existing issue statuses - and neither does that influence anything at all.

You need to set the PRE / POST states of the other statues to point to your new status. |

Okay, so I add "Deprecated" as a POST-state on "Unassigned". That makes sense - now I can go from Unassigned to Deprecated. Thanks. But then I don't understand the PRE-state idea. In the above example I could think of "Unassigned" as a PRE-state to "Deprecated". Just as well as "Deprecated" can be thought of as a POST-State to "Unassigned". Sorry, I'm confused. |

I don't understand the PRE-state idea either. Don't see any documentation on it (other than how to enter in pre-state values). I get Post-State I think. |

Aha! The two threads converge... Same confusion here. |

Sorry... clearly my powers of vision or my screen view fail me - apols!... |

OK so reading that thread my general conclusion is not to bother with pre-states, just use post. |
