e-mail alerts

web-app

In Version 2.0.2, we are unable to get Gemini to send an e-mail alert when the user/resource is assigned to an issue.  All of the project level e-mail alert settings, web.config settings, and the individual user settings appear to be correct.  We are only receiving e-mail alerts when a user is also an issue watcher.  We did not have this problem with version 1.9 that we used for evaluation.  What other setting can we check to see what might be causing this problem?

Hi Nancy,

Is there anything in the Gemini Error Log?

Harvey, thanks for responding.  We have been receiving this error in the error log, but it doesn't seem to coincide with the e-mail alerts.  We see these errors when we are in the UI frequently.

General network error. Check your network documentation.

Hi,

We have noticed exactly the same thing for 5 of our users.

Under their "My profile" they have Email alerts turned on but they recieve no alerts for issues assigned to them.

Again, they only recieve alerts if they are added as issue watchers.

EDIT - Sorry, I should point out that we have 5 other users and this issue is not happening to them. The log error reported above is not being displayed.

Actually, I've just figured it out.

In the web.config, change the parameter "autoalertforissueresource" to be "YES".

This automatically assigns an assigned resourse as an issue watcher.

In Gemini 1.9 this seems to have been YES by default but is now NO by default in the new version.

It doesn't explain why only some of our users were effected, but it has rectified the problem.

Thanks for your input, but according to the documentation, this will automatically set the Resource assigned to be an issue watcher, which will then send an e-mail anytime the issue is updated.  As an issue watcher, you'll receive too many alerts.  We only want an e-mail alert when the resource is assigned.

This was working fine in version 1.9, but does not work in 2.0.2.  Is there any other setting that we need to check to ensure that a resource will get an e-mail alert only when the issue is assigned to them?

ConorMc -- is your problem now resolved?

Nancy -- set the "AutoAlert..." setting to YES and this should start to send out emails.

Harvey - We did make this change as a work around to get us live.  However, now everyone will become an issue watcher which greatly increases the amount of e-mail received by the user.  For right now, we're going to train everyone how to filter out their e-mail, via Outlook, to only be concerned with alerts when they are assigned to the issue.
