User permissions management

I cannot find a method to view or report on all currently assigned user permissions to existing projects.  Other than writing our own SQL query for this do you have a suggested method for determining this?  I.E. I'd like to be able to either view all project permissions a particular user might have AND I'd like to be able to see a report on all user permissions assigned to a particular project.

Nothing out of the box.

The whole use role things is down for a complete overhaul -- will probably utilise ASP.NET 2.0 feature-set ot make things simpler.

You could query the back-end but I am not sure how helpful the raw data would be.
