Do versions work as expected in Gemini 5?
We are still using version 4.1 and wanted to start using the 'version' feature; however it appears to not work as expected. Does this work as expected in Gemini 5? That is, the all items list can show the item version and filtering by version works as expected?
Thanks, Frank

This works in 4.1 as well as 5. Do you see anything different? |

They do not work in 4.1. A thread on this site documents that. I cannot see the version of an item in the "grid", or "all items" list. If I assign a version to any item and then go the the all items list and select that version from the drop-down version menu on the left, no items are displayed. Also, another thread on this site about this question was told by a support person that the version can't be displayed on the all items page and filtering doesn't work on any item that can't be displayed. |

If you can see the version field in the "all projects screen" then you will be able to filter and view it. It is just a configuration issue you are having. |

That seems to directly contradict the info in thread 5010. The reply there is 'It is not possible to see the visibility on the items grid page in 4.2.1.' I made sure that the 'affected version' field in the both the 'items list' and 'view screen' screens under the administration menu were set to be visible to the groups I wanted to have access to them. Saving and reopening the administration page showed that the selected groups have access. Going to the 'Items' tab on the project page shows no change in the columns displayed, and filtering still does not work. If the items tab does not display either of those screens what screen that I can affect does it display? Frank |

What has the visibility field got to do it? You need to show the fixed in version field not affected version! |

(1) That is not explained anywhere else. Thanks for clarifying it. I have modified the screens and while the 'version fixed' column is displayed it only shows the id of the version entry (I'm expecting '1.0' and it displays '37'). Is there a way to display the actual version number' column instead of the 'id' column in the grid? (2) How do you record the fact that a bug was encountered in version 'X' but you don't know when it will be scheduled to be fixed, perhaps due to shifting market priorities? It seams reasonable to be able to filter on 'bugs found in a particular version' as an aid to effort estimation. |
