Converse cannot send - 550 Relaying not allowed

emails
converse

I have configured a mailbox in Converse using the exact same SMTP settings and credentials that I use in the Gemini General SMTP area. When I test the mailbox, it connects to POP3 just fine, and pulls in the incoming email headers. But when it tries to test outgoing, it reports:

The server rejected the specified sender email address. The server responded: 550 Relaying not allowed

The exact same settings work perfectly in General/SMTP. When I test those settings, I get a confirmation email -- and notifications go out just fine. So if it works for General/SMTP, why doesn't it work for Converse?

ANSWER

The difference is that the SMTP server is setting the from email to the mailbox you have set up in converse. Please check that your SMTP server allows that email address to send emails.

Thank you -- the test wrench now completes properly, and sends a test email that goes through.
