Is there any way to display parent component in item page or items list?
We have product suites with functions duplicated in each deployed application (e,g web version, mobile version etc)
We would like to use components / sub components to do this e.g. Product 1
- Function 1
- Function 2
Product 2
- Function 1
- Function 3
Product 3
- Function 1
- Function 2
- Function 4
etc
As far as I can see any output for items doesn't include parent component so if we see a list if items we may see Function 1 ... Function 1 ... And we have no way to see is it Function 1 in Product 1, 2 or 3
Thanks

You should allow multiple assignment of components and select both the product and function. |

In the product list this appears as Function 1, Function 1, Function 3, Product 1, Product 2, Product 3 where we would like to see So its not really clear which function / product combination it applies to? Is this the only mechanism? Thanks |

It appears if I edit the components and save (in the item page or list) it them re-organises them as Product 1, Function 1, Function 2, Function 3, Product 2, Function 1 but we don't want to have to edit/save the components for each bug. If I do this edit in the item page then in the component list they are grouped, but when I then return to the item list they are not grouped until I click in the components to edit and save again |

Got you. Do you need these products to be in the same project? Aren't they a project each? |

Well they are in essence separate projects, but they are all applciations within a product suite and we would like an overall view of all the issues in the product suite, and to manage the releases - any one release could involve one or more of the applications and we really juyst care that an issue is addressed in a given release rather than the individual versions of each application We previosuly used a custom field for the application, but with the sub-components thought that may have been a better solution I also tried a custom field with a component picker type - but it doesn't sort/display the components in their hierarchy either in the same way that the main component list is ordered Thanks |

ANSWER
Thanks, the only workaround at the moment is to use prefix on the compoent names. We will look into showing the hierarchy better in version 5 of Gemini. |

Thanks, I am sure we will work something out in the meantime! |
