change the severity after ticket submission

A user would like to change the severity of the ticket after it has been submitted and cannot change this. Is this a workflow issue or a permissions issue?

Can the user edit the item? If so check that the screen (Administration -> Screens under itmes) that the type is usign (Administration -> Type under items) is allowing that user to view the field.

User can edit other items but cannot edit severity

Severity is checked for that particular screen assigned.

Check that the user belong to the groups selected. It might be ticked but the user is not in the group. Can the user edit that item?

I have given this group update item progress permissions.

Go to the Administration -> Type and edit the type that the item belongs to. Note the edit screen used by that type. Is it the same screen as the one you have chnaged?
