Next to some of my issues, I see a lock icon that I do not remember putting there. I am the only person using the system at this point; what does this icon mean?

Better question. It means private issue; I have assigned the default visibility recently to Everyone (authenticated). What is the real difference between everyone and everyone (authenticated)?

Yes, the lock icon means that the issue has restricted visibility (any group but everyone).
The difference between everyone and authenticated is related to the anonymous access feature of Gemini.
Everyone is any user even if they didn't log in (anonymous), authenticated are logged in users.
