Users - Understanding Security

When I add a Group to the user, if that group has a lesser set of permissions that another group the lesser set is adopted.

This is somewhat counter to my expectations, where I thought it was a union of the permissions.

The profiling of a user is quite powerful but somewhat difficult to manage.  I feel that it would be nice on the user management page to:

  • select/deselect permissions on the listed project
  • remove or disable user on a project assignment even if they belong to a group.
  • union the group membership permissions
  • identify the groups that the user has against the project and enable/disable them , which would bulk enable/disable the group permissions not intersecting with other group sets.

It seems that adjustments to Security Groups are nto passed on to existing profiles. I edited one of the security schemes and did not see that change reflected in the security settings for the user. This led me to believe that the security system applied the settings to the lowest profile.

Or - which I yet to examine, is it the last profile added that affects the permissions used ?

Anyway, if the case is that the adjustment of a security scheme is not passed on to users and projects already profiled, then the administrator should be warned and given the option to update it.
