Charts/stats on the Project Dashbaord

How can we get the numbers on the dashboard to be reflective of the current version?

right now it seems to take all versions..

I have gone into the project versions and marked them as released and archive but this does not seem to have any affect on the charts and stats on the dashboard.

The statisticts on the project dashboard page are for all issues. If you want count by specific version use the report tab of the issues filter page.
