Change field visibility, now issues are not created

I created a new field visibility schema for our internal usage. The create page displays without a problem but when trying to save a new issue nothing happens (it just returns). No error message or whatsoever. So I was wondering if it is possible to configure the field visibility scheme such that it is impossible to create a new issue?

It is probably due to a mandatory field (components, estimated hours) not being populated.
Please check to make sure you have set default values for these fields (Project Administration -> Default Values).

I ended up defining default values for a field we do not use and the error went away. I think that although Gemini wasn't showing a bug it clearly is a lot more user-friendly to give at least a visible indication which fields are mandatory (a * is quite common).
