SQL Server / SQL Express / SQL 2008 ?

We are getting ready to upgrade out Gemini DB which is currently running local with 2005 STD. My question is we are going to move to a new server just for Gemini and wanted to know if anyone has used SQL Express, a remote instance of SQL or SQL Server 2008... and what seems to work best.

Don't know about remote, but I have no problems with SQL Express 2008. Just let it update itself to the latest SP/Updates before using it. I used the default SQLEXPRESS name.

We have noticed that SQL Server 2008 performs much faster than the others.
