DB error when installing 3.6.5

I am trying to install 3.6.5 on a machine which is connected via RDC. When I execute the CounterSoftGeminiv36SampleDatabase.exe and click on "Advanced" button I get the error:

"A network - related or instancespecific error occured while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The Server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and the SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider Named pipes provider, error 40 - Could n"

I tried runnig the create scripts on the SQL server which work fine but when I access the site I get the above error in browser. I have given NETWORKSERVICE dbowner.

This happens even if I try to install directly on the box instead of connecting it via RDC.

I am able to run now. The port 1433 was not available.
