Windows Authentication - Gemini 3.5.4 (Build 2435)

web-app

Hello,

I've had a look on your support site and in the PDF manual on how to enable Windows Authentication however I can't get it to work.

Just to cover off I created a new user in Gemini called DOMAIN\UserName which is the same user name with which I use to sign onto the network, I put this user in the Gemini Administrators global group. From there I updated the web.config file and changed the authentication from Forms to Windows.

Next I checked the security settings on IIS 5.1 and ensured that Integrated Windows Authentication was ticked. Lastly I issued the iisreset command from the command prompt which restarted IIS.

When I open the Gemini web page now it looks as though it's signed me on, i.e. no errors but I can't do anything. It's like I've no permissions, I don't see a login box etc.

I also checked IE8 to ensure that the security settings allowed Windows Integrated Authentication.

I tried to see if I could create a new user by clicking on the link in the front screen to create a new user however when I tried to submit my request it said that the user already existed.

Any ideas?

Kind regards,

Chris

Do you get the "My Profile" link (top right)?

Also, make sure that you have un-ticked "Anonymous acess" in IIS.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I can confirm that I don't see a "My Profile" link at the top right. I also don't see a sign on box asking me for my credentials either. I also can confirm that I had the Anonymous Access box unticked in IIS.

However when I click the link where it says...

If you wish to create a user account then click here.

And put in my details I get the error "Username already taken".

Kind regards,

Chris

Hello,

Just to advise that this is now fixed. I went to the Security - General area of the Gemini Administration settings and updated the following options:

  1. Set Allow User Registrations to No
  2. Set Allow Anonymous Users to No
  3. Set Show Gemini Stastics to No

I was then able to open up Gemini and it logged in my account automatically.

Kind regards,

Chris

Thanks for the update. We suspect it might have been a caching issue.
