Gemini Application Error when adding comments

web-app

When i create a comment in Gemini I get the following error each time i try to view the ticket

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at CounterSoft.Gemini.Web.Issue.Controls.IssueCommentAttachmentUC.GetFileId() at ASP.issuecontrolsissuecommentattachmentucascx._DataBindingbtnDelete(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnDataBinding(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBindChildren() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBindChildren() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBindChildren() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBindChildren() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind(Boolean raiseOnDataBinding) at System.Web.UI.Control.DataBind() at System.Web.UI.Control.DataB

When i delete the comment, I can view the ticket with no problems

I'm currently using Gemini build 3.5.1 (however this problem also occurs with version 3.50).

Any suggestions ?

Can you please try to add a comment with an attachment?

Do you get this issue with all issues that have comments or just thsi one issue?

I get the same error as soon as I press Create.

This happens on all the tickets that have a comment

Sorry, you get the error when you create a comment or view an issue? I presume it is after you press create comment and redirected to the view issue page, correct?

Did you try to add a comment with an attachement?

Also, please check the Gemini error log for errors.

I was answering your post but i think our wires got crossed :) Let me clarify:

I tried to create a comment with an attachment as instructed, and i got the same error as before

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object." with the same stack trace I pasted before.

The error occurred as soon as i pressed create and was re directed to the view issue page.

I am currently copying and pasting error messages from the System Information -> System Log.

Is this an upgrade from an old version? Can you please test this on our site: http://gemini.countersoft.com ?

No this is not an upgrade from an older version. This problem appeared around 3 days ago, however I've only had time to address it now.

I've created a test issue, and a test comment on your site, and it worked fine, and i could not replicate the issue.

Interestingly enough, I can create comments and view tickets that have comments via the Gemini Desktop application.

Ok, so it seems like a setup issue. Did it work before and stopped? What version of windows and IIS are you running?

Yes that is correct. It was working before and it stopped.

Gemini is running on a XP professional box with Service Pack 2 and running IIS version 5.1

Do you know what has changed on the web server? Can it be that a patch has been installed?

I'm suspecting the culprit is VMWare which was installed around 4 to 5 days ago. I'm uninstalling IIS and reinstalling to see if my suspicions are correct
