Converting 2.0.4 to 3.1.2 License issue?

web-app

Greetings, all!  I work for a company that uses this fine software for agile issue management and I realized today that our version is extremely outdated. I was tasked with spearheading the research to upgrade, and I do have some questions.

We do have a license for the software.  I do not know what license as I am just a developer, but I do know that we have a license.  Is the upgrade still free?  I downloaded the latest version from the Downloads section and have looked over the migration guide and sql scripts, and it all seems pretty straightforward.

The licensing thing, though, I'm still unsure of.  I'm not sure if our license means we have to pay for an upgrade or if it is completely free.  Very new to this, as you can tell.

Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated by myself and my manager.  Thanks for your time!

James

Yes, you will need to purchase product subscription (199 GBP) in order to upgrade. You can do this online via the client portal: http://client.countersoft.com

Thanks for the good feedback.

Thank you for the response!  I am a little confused, however, as I was able to download the latest version off the Countersoft site yesterday, and it contains all the necessary web files as well as the SQL scripts to upgrade the database.  What will the product subscription enable us to do?  I ask more for the benefit of my manager, as we also had to purchase some other software after upgrading to 3.5, so we do have budget concerns.  Thanks again for the fast response.

Yes, you can download all the software, but can only use it according to the terms of the FREE license. Mainly, no more than 5 users and not internet facing.

So you will be, more than likely, violating these.

The subscription will remove these restrictions and allow you to upgrade to any future version released within a year.

Thanks for the info!  Hadn't thought of that.  I will write up the proposal for upgrading (since we'll have to get the purchase approved) and we will, hopefully, be upgrading.  Thanks again for the information!

FYI: We haven't upgraded anything yet, so we haven't violated the terms of our license.  Was just digging for information.  Thanks again.
