Cloning a Gemini install

we would like to clone our main gemini install on another machine for training and testing.

Any recommendations? Backup/Restore db and root folder files?

how would I change the URL after restoring the db?

Yes, backup and restore is the best way.
All you have to do is make sure that you have changed the connection string in the web.config file and update the full gemini url setting to point to the new test url.
