Events and Custom Fields

So far the testing is good, one question I have from the managers is...

Is it possible to get custom fields based on external data, so we don't have to replicate for example our customers to the Gemini database. Reason I wrote event was it could be one way to handle it, but the primary question is, if it is possible to use external data for custom fields without having to replicate it...maybe via a provider model etc.

If I understand you correctly, you are looking to create a custom field (combo or list box) that is based on a lookup table. If so, this is quite simple:

Create the lookup table in the Gemini database and populate it and create a custom field based on that table.

That is the option yes, but I have my data somewhere else and I would like to look at that data instead of looking in the Gemini Database.

I know I can replicate my data into some tables in the Gemini database, but I would prefer not doing that.

The scenario is that we have all our customers in our ERP system and I would like to get those as a custom field on our support issues, without replicating if possible :)

You can always create views in the Gemini database that reference the ERP database....

And views is the only option here...there is no way of getting data from any other locations.
