scheduler service stopped working

web-app

We've been using Gemini for a few months now.  When I first installed and configured Gemini, we had some difficulty getting the email scheduler service to work, but with enough effort, we finally did get it working and it has been running for these last few months just fine.

It has now stopped working... that is, I am no longer getting any email notifications whatsoever.  If I change Gemini to use the mail plugin, it works.  Of course, that's no good because you don't get the batching of alerts and the nicely formatted emails and whatever.  Besides, the schedule service was working, now it's not.

When I restart the Windows service, I get the following error in the Application event log:

Error testing connectivity/authentication to client ...

What can we do to troubleshoot this and get it working?

Thanks.

Have you changed your Gemini url or any settings for the scheduler?

Also, check that the admin user specified in the config for the scheduler is a valid admin user.

Yes, I verified that the user information specified in the config account is a Gemini admin account.  In fact, after reading another post, I created a new/fresh Gemini account and ensured that it was an admin and used that.

We also ensured that the account that Windows service itself was an administrative account on this server it is running on.

The URL didn't change, although we did add some host headers to the website.  After changing the URL in the config file to a different host header, it worked.

We were stumped since there was no error log or other troubleshooting information whatsoever (other than the error in the Windows event log mentioned in my original post).

Is there anyway to get more information / troubleshoot?  We're not sure why changing the host header worked and it would be better if we knew exactly what Gemini needed.

Unfortunately we do not log it. We will add this to the next release.

OK, thanks.

Any thoughts on why multiple host headers would cause a problem?  Why changing from one host header to another would apparently resolve the situation? And/or if the website is set up to use SSL?

We are not sure. But we think it must be a WSE issue.

The best way to test it is by using the web services sample app and checking the exception.
