2.1.1 windows authentication

just installed 2.1.1 for evaluation and i can't get windows authentication working. i should note this was a re-install after having initially installed it with different settings.

when trying to use windows authentication i'm getting the windows/nt login prompt which never seems to work. i have created a user of domain\username within gemini.

settings are as follows:

    <authentication mode="Windows">
      <forms name="Gemini21" loginUrl="Default.aspx" timeout="60" path="/">
      </forms>
    </authentication>

with both anonymous and integrated windows authentication ticked in IIS.

any advice appreciated

You need to untick the anonymous setting from IIS.

thanks for your reply.

i tried un-ticking the anonymouse acces but was still prompted by the windows/nt login box. again the details i entered as my username and password didn't seem to work? any further ideas?

The login box is displayed by IIS. You might need to add your windows user to have access.

great, thanks for that mark. i have installed on a dev box and my user didn't exist on there. for those who might read this i did the following.

.removed anonymous access to the site from within iis
.created myself as a user on the dev box
.added that user to the directory that holds the gemini web app and re-applied permissions to all sub folders
.noted the domain and username (domain\username)
.created that as a user within gemini
