Is it Possible to Connect Gemini Database to Access

web-app

Hello,

I am just starting at a company that is interested in using Gemini.  It seems like a very nice package.  However, it is lacking the types of reports that I need to present issues to management.  The information  that is exported in excel and the printed reports are not adequate.  So, I would like to us a utility like Crystal Reports or Access to generate the types of reports that I need.  I am not sure if it is possible to connect to the Gemini database for this purpose.

Can anyone give me some direction.  I would prefer to use Crystal Reports for this.

Thanks

Yes, it is possible to use either Access or Crystal Reports. Just set up an ODBC connection to the SQL database.

I guess thats the part I am getting stuck with.  I havent had to do this in quite a while.  I am going into the control panel and doing an add data source and Im not sure of the proper source.  For example, User DSN, File DSN, etc...  Next I do not know the name of the instance of the gemini data base or the schema name.

You need to add a "System" data source using the SQL Server driver. You can find the instance and database via the connection string in your web.config file.
