new user questions for our products

web-app

I am trying the Gemini 2.1.1 and really like most of it over what we are using right now.  But there are a few things I can't figure out how to do...

We have an API product where users sometimes need to submit their source to us for review or bug tracking.  I need this code to be private between the user, and admins.  That is it.  Right now it looks like a private issue is actually public to anyone in the "private" group.  What is the purpose of that?  When would you use that?

We have two levels of customers - subscribers and non-subscribers.  I am pretty sure I can setup two projects and leave one as invisible unless you are of that subscriber group.  Is that right?  So the non-subscribers would not even see the project?

Is there any way to support private comments from Admins / Staff?  A lot of times we need to discuss an issue internally and don't want the customer to see these discussions.  I suppose we can do it with the private filter, but that goes back to how do I secure the users uploads?

The private option is usually used for internal issues that you do not want anybody else to know about. Much like your last point.

You can "hide" projects from a user, you need to set the "Show All Projects" to "NO" in the Administration -> Security -> General section. Then give users rights on a per project basis.

We already have a request on our site: http://gemini.countersoft.com/Default.aspx?p=2&i=1143 for issues to be only visible for the user and the admins, no ETA yet.

We do provide the option to purchase the source code, so you can customise Gemini for your own requirements.

Thanks for your response.

So I could create 3 projects called:

Project Public

Project Subscribers

Project Internal

And then create 3 classes of users and when I add a new user put them in the correct group.  Is that correct?

The ability to make things truely private though is very important for us.  Do you have a roadmap of when you plan to release new features?  Is the product under active development?

At the moment you can not create user groups. You assign a security scheme per user not a user group.

We do have a road map and Gemini is very much in active development.

You can follow it all on: http://gemini.countersoft.com

Ouch, per user is rough.  We have over 5,000 customers.  For me to have to do that for each user would be a real pain.  But since the database is in SQL Server maybe I can write a little utility to set the permissions for each user...
