Update Problems - Quality Problems - Missing simple important features

Dear all,

we are using Gemini since 3 years. Every update is very awful because something works not correct after the update (Search for my name in this forum).

With the update from 3.7.1 to 3.7.2 there are problems with the web.config (See http://support.countersoft.com/forums/thread/16277.aspx). Because of this we decided to rollback the update to 3.7.1 and waiting for the next release.

Now the next version was released (3.7.3) and we execute the update. First everything looks ok, but after some hours we figured out that ALL percentage values of the issues are wrong. This is really bad because we the need several days to correct the values.

Another problem is that for example that the simple features are not implemented or fixed. For example:

  1. The time logging feature on issues - You cannot change the time log. The input dialog is really awful (Date-Picker) etc.

  2. In Road Map (Expand Columns -> Remaining Time) the "Logged Time" is always 0 but there exists Time-Logs.

  3. The missing native active directory connection which I asked for (meanwhile) several years.

Sometime we think that you are not using your system by your own because such simple features (like time logging) must be already fixed/improved (Yes, I already added this to the feature list)

Please improve the quality of Gemini and the quality of the updates.

Last but not least: Why is the input box in which I entered this post so small?

Thanks for your comments.

Generally speaking, people tell us that EVERY UPDATE is better than before -- we hear this every day so we must be doing something right. But nobody is perfect, and we are no exception.

However:

1. Web.config issue your refer to affects IIS 6 and we addressed this issue ASAP (I believe we gave you a solution in about 3 hours of you reporting it).
2. Do not get the time log date picker nit-pick -- what exactly bothers you? This has not been broken and has always been like this.
3. Yes we know about the "Logged Time" being ZERO on Roadmaps and are looking at addressing it in 4.0.  Once again, this has not been broken in the UPDATE.
4. AD is on our roadmap will be done Q2 -- we have priorities and work to those accordingly.
5. We do use Gemini for managing Gemini as you are logging issues against it. Very few of our competitors allow the public at large to interact using their own software! 
6. "Percentage are wrong" -- do not get this and you will have to show us. 

The best thing for you to do is to send screen shots of areas where you have issues to our support email address and we'll get someone onto it right away.

All critisism is welcome but it has to be fair.

As for this forum software giving you a small data input box -- this will be replaced shortly with Atlas.

Dear HarveyKandola,

  1. Yes, you are right. You gave us a solution for this problem in a short time. Every post will be answered very fast. But why need I to change it and why is this not documented. On the update from 3.7.0 to 3.7.1 I don't need to changed anything.

But the problem is that after every update we have problems with the functions of gemini. Sometimes the Mail Scheduler sends no mails or has memory leaks. Sometimes there are problems with the web.config aso. We don't want to be afraid for every Gemini Update. We only want to install the update and works with Gemini. The experience in the last years shows us, that this is not possible.

  1. The Date picker shows not the correct datetime format. I need to add several times to an issue every day and the usability of this dialog box (include the datetime picker is really awful). The DateTime cannot be changed - I must delete and create a new entry (why?). See: http://gemini.countersoft.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=3697&PROJID=2

  2. You are right. This is not an update problem. If this does not work, why do you create the feature and everybody can see it (YAGNI).

  3. I know that this is planned for 4.0 (http://support.countersoft.com/forums/thread/14793.aspx), but I asked it in 2009 and I remember that 4.0 should be released in the meanwhile.

  4. I believe that you are using Gemini by yourself. But such (small) things are very important in the working day and should be improved.

  5. We have update from 3.7.1 to 3.7.3. Before the percentage value of an issue was 95% and after the update the value was e.g. 56%. The new percentage value looks like a random value on every issue which we used the percentage values. It is not possible to show it to you because in the meanwhile we changed the values manually.

Of course I will be fair. Everything I posted to you are facts. Please understand me we are using Gemini from 2.2.x until now. There was on/after every update troubles with the software, especially with the update from 2.2.x to 3.0 (See my posts).
