application error creates inaccessible issues.

web-app

Hi Support,   We seem to have a fairly consistent problem over here with our Gemini system.  2-3 times / day application errors occur when folks are creating new issues.  when these application errors occur, they leave an issue in the system, assigned to a resource, that cannot be accessed!  (there's no place to click on them).  I'd love to provide screenshots at this point, but I am getting an access denied error when I try to attach a file to this posting.   I have two people who use Gemini the most frequently.  They both report this issue happening to them.  I had a long discussion with them to try to figure out if there was some pattern to it, or if they were doing something wrong.  I couldn't figure out any pattern.   Here's what a gathered from that conversation:

  • The error occurs when the issue is small, or large.  When they take a long time to type it out, or when they take a short time.
  • The error occurs regardless of the section it's going under (infrastructure, websites, administration, etc).
  • The error occurs whether or not it's assigned to someone upon creation (it seems that if the issue is unassigned, it then won't show up in the system anywhere at all.  if it is assigned, then the user it's assigned to now has an issue they can't access).
  • The error occurs specifically when the 'create' button is clicked.  No reports of it occurring when you edit the issue after it's created.
  • No pattern identified in terms of the issue properties (such as Issue Type, Priority, Fixed for Version, or Assigned Resource).
  •   The error that comes up on the screen (I'll try to get a screenshot for you) is something along the lines of 'an application error has occurred'.

Examination of the database reveals that these issues are being assigned a value of -1 in the projid field.  if this is manually changed, the issue can then be accessed.    any help you could provide would be fantastic!

    Thanks,

    Brent

What is the exact error message? Also, check the error log.
