My Work email alert

I'm supporting the Gemini installation at my company and was asked by a user if they could configure their settings to get an email alert whenever an issue was assigned to them (new item shows up in their My Work).

I could not figure out how to do that? Is there a way?

You can set Gemini to auto alert issue resource. This will alert the issue resource when the user is assigned and after that when the issue is updated.

You can do this via the web.config for Gemini 2.1.1 and below or the Administration page for Gemini 2.2.
