Seems like we can't create a custom field relating to another field/custom field. For example create a sub-component custom field that will be populated with values depending on the value selected for component. E.g. create a composit key lookup table.

We have some custom fields that we have implemented by creating views. We wanted an 'issue found in' custom field. I created a view that was based off of the project's versions, and then used the view for a custom field.

I have not seen how to accomplish what you are requesting though.
