Scheduler not sending mails

emails
scheduler

Hi

We have just moved our Gemini installation to a virtual machine and now the scheduler does not send any mails any more. When I check the EventLog it states:

Error testing connectivity/authentication to client https://localhost/gemini

When I try and go to this page using internet explorer I get a warning that states "There is a problem with this websites security certificate"

If I click to "Continue to this website (not recommended)"

Then I get to Gemini and the password and user id I have used in the file: CounterSoft.Gemini.Scheduler.exe.config works.

I guess this certificate is causing a problem for the scheduler, but I do not know how to fix it.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You should set the url the same as the url you use to navigate to the site. Is the site exposed to the internet?

Hi, thanks for the response. I have the web address https://localhost/gemini defined in the config file, and it was this address I entered into the internet explorer, where i received the certificate warning.

This system is also exposed to the internet, and I have also tried this external address in the config file, but that did not work either. Is there any way to get debug info out of the scheduler, or to run it on a command line with tracing ?

best regards Simon

What do you get when you try to navigate to the external address?

Hi

I have now fixed the certificate error and I am now using the external address in the config file. However I am still not able to start the scheduler and I am still getting the same error

Error testing connectivity/authentication to client https://support.xxx.com/gemini.

Did you try navigating to the external address from the server (using a browser)? Does it work? Also, try installing the scheduler on your desktop to see if it works. We need to establish if this is a server config issue.

Hi

I am able to navigate to the page https://support.xxx.com/gemini in my internet explorer and am presented with the login screen.

It is difficult for me to install the scheduler anywhere else as I do not have any machines outside our firewall that can resolve to the address.

Is there anyway to trace why the connection is not being made ?

best regards Simon

The problem is probably becuase of the challange (log in page). Why is that coming up? a workaround can be creating a local site (non https) that the scheduler can use.

Hi

I have now set up another website that redirects http://support.xxx.com/gemini to our actual site https://support.xxx.com/gemini

I have then specified the address http://support.xxx.com/gemini in the scheduler configuration. However this did not help as the scheduler still refuses to start. The error from the EventLog states:

Error testing connectivity/authentication to client http://support.xxx.com/gemini.

When I use the browser to go to http://support.xxx.com/gemini, I am redirected to https://support.xxx.com/gemini and I am presented with the login screen.

Is it this login screen that is causing the problem ? If so , how can I prevent the login screen being presented to the user, I have configured to be the scheduler user ?

best regards simon

Yes, it is the login screen that is cuasing the issue. It might be due to security settings in IE. However, why not setup an internal site for the scheduler to use?

Hi

I don't really want to set up an exact same site, with all the work that that would involve in the future to keep them synchronised. Ideally I would prefer that the scheduler is able to connect to the main site. I am not even sure that creating a new site would even solve the problem as the login screen is being generated by Gemini anyway. I tried to attached a screen shot of the page I get when I use the browser to go to the page specified in the scheduler config file, but it looks like I can only insert links to pictures available on the net. If you would like to see a screen shot, please let me know how I can send it to you.

best regards Simon

ANSWER

We had a webex session and it turned out I had a very old version of the scheduler installed. The engineer quickly resolved the problem by installing the correct version of the installer for the version of Gemini I was running.

Once again the Gemini support staff have shown themselves to be fast, efficient and professional.

When I first entered this item, I had a bet will a colleague how long it would take for us to get a response. Result = 8 minutes

Awesome !

Keep up the good work
